Nu Alpha Kappa Fraternity, Inc. is proud to announce that our inaugural NAK Day of Giving raised over $5,100, marking a historic moment in our fraternity’s commitment to philanthropy and community impact. This first-ever effort connected our mission to the national spirit of generosity on Giving Tuesday, creating a new tradition that engages undergraduate brothers, alumni, and community partners in a united day of support.

This campaign provided donors the opportunity to directly support:

  • Undergraduate chapters
  • Scholarships and educational opportunities
  • Community service and national programming

Through both early giving and day-of participation, brothers nationwide demonstrated what is possible when NAK comes together with intention and heart.

A strong start toward NAK’s $20,000 academic year goal

While NAK’s initial Giving Day goal was $20,000, the progress of $5,100 represents a meaningful and momentum-building first step. This number shows the power of our brotherhood and the potential for long-term growth as the fraternity continues shaping a new philanthropic identity within NAK.

“Raising more than $5,100 in our inaugural Day of Giving is a powerful reminder of what our brotherhood can accomplish when we unite behind a shared purpose,” said William Smith, NAK’s Associate Vice President of Philanthropy and Community Service. “Philanthropic campaigns like this reflect the standards embraced by leading nonprofits and fraternal organizations nationwide, and NAK is proudly stepping into that space.”

The $20,000 fundraising goal remains active for the full 2025–2026 academic year, and NAK leaders are confident that continued engagement, chapter participation, and alumni networking will carry the fraternity forward.

To expand this energy even further, NAK will launch a new signature initiative: the NAK Week of Giving. It will take place Feb. 23–28, 2026. This weeklong celebration will amplify NAK’s efforts through coordinated fundraising, service, alumni outreach, and chapter-driven initiatives across the nation.

Chapter Challenge incentive winners

As part of the campaign, the National Executive Board (NEB) offered a chapter challenge with financial incentives for the top-performing chapters. The winners were:

  • 1st place: Nu Chapter – $150
  • 2nd place: Lambda Chapter – $100
  • 3rd place: Epsilon Chapter – $50

A total of $300 was awarded across the three chapters. Funds will be disbursed by the end of December, pending completion of each chapter’s ThriveCart affiliate setup.

A campaign designed to strengthen NAK

The Day of Giving also introduced new infrastructure and resources intended to support a culture of sustainable fundraising. The campaign included:

  • An online donation system that allowed supporters to contribute to specific chapters using chapter codes.
  • ThriveCart affiliate tracking, which ensured that chapter-designated funds were allocated correctly.
  • A complete marketing toolkit, including graphics, videos and templates for chapter use.
  • A chapter challenge awarding incentive funds to the top-performing chapters.

These components mirror strategies used by national nonprofits and fraternal organizations and represent NAK’s effort to strengthen its philanthropic footprint.

“This campaign represents a cultural turning point for NAK,” said Carlos Mendoza, CEO and President of NAK. “By introducing new initiatives that elevate how we serve, communicate and engage our brotherhood, we are setting the foundation for a new era of growth and unity. The support shown during this Day of Giving demonstrates that our brothers believe in where we are headed, and together we are building a stronger future for NAK.”

Looking ahead

The NEB thanked the brothers, alumni and supporters who contributed, promoted the campaign and participated in informational sessions. The fraternity also recognized the efforts of its national officers who helped coordinate marketing, communications, philanthropy, public relations and financial management.

This year’s Giving Day marks the beginning of a long-term effort to strengthen the fraternity’s philanthropic presence and expand opportunities for chapters and students.
