2026 Letter from the Nu Alpha Kappa President

By NAK National President

April 2, 2026

Brothers and Community Members,

It is both an honor and a responsibility that I embrace with humility as I continue to serve as National President and CEO of Nu Alpha Kappa Fraternity, Inc.

Since my appointment in October 2024, I’ve had the privilege of working alongside a dedicated National Executive Board to advance our mission, uplift our Brotherhood, and honor the values that define Nu Alpha Kappa. This past year has been marked by reflection, renewed energy, and the development of a strategic roadmap designed to carry our Fraternity forward, grounded in tradition, elevated by purpose.

Our national programming has seen renewed vitality through events like NAKFEST and the National Leadership Development Conference (NLDC), most recently hosted in San Diego. These gatherings are more than just annual events, they are celebrations of our Hermandad, moments that deepen the bonds between Brothers, and platforms for leadership development that leave lasting impact.

As a NAK, having served at the chapter, regional, and national levels, including as Chapter President, National Secretary, and National Vice President of Chapter Compliance, I have seen firsthand the strength of our Brotherhood and the areas in which we must continue to grow.

The next chapter for Nu Alpha Kappa requires bold vision and focused execution. Guided by input from Brothers across the country, I am committed to leading efforts that:

  • Reinforce Our Traditions: We will continue to honor the cultural roots and founding values that make NAK a unique and
    transformative space for our members.
  • Expand and Evolve Programming: We aim to enhance educational, professional, and cultural development opportunities that
meet the needs of Brothers at every stage.
  • Plan a Unifying 2027 National Convention: In collaboration with the NAA, we are preparing for a memorable and purpose-
driven convention that will reflect our growth and unity.
  • Grow Our Presence: We are focused on reactivating dormant chapters and expanding to new campuses—ensuring that more
students have the opportunity to experience the lifelong bonds of Nu Alpha Kappa.

Professionally, I serve as a member of the Specialized Care Team at Tulare County Child Welfare Services, where we support youth in highly sensitive and complex cases involving Commercially Sexually Exploited Children (CSEC), Short-Term Residential Therapeutic Programs (STRTP), and Central Valley Regional Center (CVRC) clients. In addition to this role, I am proud to serve as the Tulare County Human Trafficking Task Force Coordinator, a position that allows me to engage with the community and raise awareness about human trafficking through outreach, tabling events, and educational presentations.

Further reflecting my commitment to education and empowerment, I also work as a Sociology Instructor at the College of the Sequoias, where I have the opportunity to mentor and teach the next generation of changemakers.

My academic and professional journey from earning multiple Associate of the Arts degrees at the College of the Sequoias to completing a Bachelor of Science and Master of Social Work at California State University, Fresno, has always centered on service, empowerment, and community impact. These values remain at the heart of my leadership in NAK.

I am proud to serve this Fraternity and am excited to continue working with this amazing Brotherhood, united by our shared values,
strengthened by our diversity, and inspired by our collective potential.

As we move forward, we do so with a commitment to transparency, accountability, and cultural integrity. This Brotherhood has shaped my life and the lives of countless others, and I remain committed to ensuring it continues to thrive for generations to come.

Let us move forward, rooted in purpose, united in Brotherhood, and focused on a bold future.
Con Carnalismo,
Carlos A. Mendoza
