Nu Member Symposium: Empowering New Brothers in the NAK Journey
The Nu Member Symposium (NMS), formerly known as Pledgefest, is a transformative annual event for Nu Alpha Kappa Fraternity, Inc., designed to unite and empower new members, or “Little Brothers,” as they embark on their brotherhood journey. First launched in 1995 by the Zeta Chapter at UC Santa Barbara as Pledgefest, the event was rebranded as the Nu Member Symposium to emphasize its focus on fostering unity, leadership, and inter-chapter connections. This dynamic weekend strengthens bonds across NAK chapters through engaging team-building activities, leadership training sessions, and meaningful opportunities to connect with undergraduate and alumni Brothers, as well as National Board members. The Symposium reinforces NAK’s core values of academics, culture, and brotherhood, enabling Little Brothers to build lasting relationships while reflecting on their roles within the fraternity. From its humble beginnings with 50 attendees to its current role as a cornerstone of NAK’s mission, the Nu Member Symposium remains a pivotal experience for new members.
