Nu Alpha Kappa Fraternity, Inc. (NAK) stands in unwavering solidarity with our brothers, families, and communities who are directly impacted by the recent wave of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) actions across the country. These events have reignited fear, anxiety, and uncertainty within immigrant communities – many of whom are integral to the fabric of our fraternity and society.
As an organization rooted in the values of academics, brotherhood, and culture, we recognize the urgent need to stand firm in the face of injustice and to advocate for the dignity and rights of all people – regardless of their immigration status. NAK remains committed to empowering and educating our members and the communities we serve by sharing credible resources, supporting each other, and uplifting the voices of those most affected.
We urge our members and communities to know your rights under the U.S. Constitution. You have rights – no matter your status. Being informed is one of the most powerful tools we have to protect ourselves and each other.
Furthermore, rapid response networks in California, Colorado, and Nevada may respond to ICE detentions and raids in our communities. Many counties have a local rapid response hotline available 24/7. Find your local rapid response networks below:
For our brothers and communities in the states of California, Nevada, and Colorado, we also recommend the resources offered by local universities that provide direct support to undocumented and immigrant students.
This moment calls for courage, compassion, and collective action. Let us not only stand together, but also act together – by educating ourselves, supporting our communities, and ensuring that Nu Alpha Kappa continues to serve as a beacon of resilience, inclusivity, and cultural pride.
